Welcome to the Dickens in Lowell legacy project page.

In 2012, the University of Massachusetts Lowell and Lowell National Historical Park celebrated the bicentenary of author Charles Dickens (1812-1870) with a major exhibition and event series, Dickens in Lowell. Here, you can sample video highlights from the series, and access exciting digital resources exploring Dickens's life, work, and travels in Massachusetts. Dickens and Massachusetts: A Virtual Exhibition


An extensive video tour of the award-winning Lowell National Historical Park exhibition, narrated by co-curator Diana Archibald, Associate Professor of English at UMass Lowell. Bonus features:

Three leading artists - author Andre Dubus III, photographer Arno Minkkinen, and musician Alan Williams, all UMass Lowell faculty members - use Dickens's campaign for copyright protections as a springboard for this fascinating exploration of intellectual property and the arts.
